Term IRBNE Definition: The abbreviation for income received but not earned. This is income received by the household sector, but not earned by a factor of production. A more common term for IRBNE is transfer payments. The three most common examples are Social Security benefits, welfare payments, and unemployment compensation. IRBNE is added to national income to derive personal income.
